Leadership
Multi-cultural
Me
I am a 22-year
old female that was born on Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands on March 6 of 1992. My race would be considered
Hispanic-Caribbean, and my ethnicity is of a Caribbean-English descent as I
have lived in Grand Cayman for basically my entire life. My family on the other
hand is a bit more racially mixed and multi-cultural as they originate from
Cayman Islands, Belize, Cuba and India. To be more specific, my father and his
family are from Cayman Islands and Cuba, while my mother’s side of the family
is from Belize and India.
For the most part
my family speaks English, as do I, while there are some that are bi-lingual and
also speak Spanish, Creole and Indo-aryan. I have not had the privilege to meet
my Indian family as yet so I am not familiar with their religion, but I do know
that my Caymanian, Belizean and Cuban family are firm Christians. I am also
currently on the journey to build a relationship with God and become a firm
Christian.
I was never
married but I do have one child, a 5-year old daughter by the name of Taysia
Amorita Solomon. When it comes to my gender orientation, I am straight, but I
do not hold any prejudice or hate for those who are Gay/Lesbians. I do not have
any diagnosed physical or psychological disabilities, but I do sometimes think
I suffer from depression.
So far, I have
only obtained my Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration and I am
currently pursuing my Bachelors in Business Management. I plan to continue with
my education through certificate courses and my MBA. I have previously worked
in retail, offshore banking, real estate and hospitality and enjoyed them all.
I personally
think that my age can be used to my advantage when it comes to my dream of
being an entrepreneur because it gives me time to save and plan for my
business, as well as time to gain experience. I also think that the uniqueness
of my different cultures will help me lead by broadening my ideas when it comes
to pleasing a variety of people.
I feel that I am
pretty comfortable with multicultural differences in others as my family is
quite different from one another and it does not bother me at all. I actually find
it quite enlightening and interesting to be able to experience such different
cultures first hand.
