1. A Lesson in Time
Management by Ally Perkins
The first article that caught my
attention on iGrad was based on time management. I found this interesting and
helpful as I just recently completed an action plan with the goal of improving
my time management skills.
The article basically gave 5
pointers to assist in time management. They consisted of "staying
organized", "prioritizing and focusing", "fighting the urge
to procrastinate", "finding study times that work for you" and
"minimizing distractions". Although I was already aware of these
needs when it comes to time management, it was re-assuring to see them
explained from another perspective.
I can honestly say that this
skill would benefit my future goal of becoming an entrepreneur. There will be
the need for a lot of planning and organizing, which needs to be managed
correctly in order for me to keep up with my daughter and full-time job before
becoming a business owner.
2. Do You Know Your Financial Personality? What Your
Money Habits say About You by Mackenzie Maher
The second article that caught my attention was about one’s “financial
personality”. In this article, there were 5 types of financial personalities
described. Each explained how much or little one would acknowledge their
financial responsibilities, how quickly one would spend, how much planning went
into consideration before spending, etc.
The financial personality that best suited me was “the planner”.
According to the article, “the planner might just be the most well-rounded of
the financial personality types”. I thought that this was most similar to me
because as it described for the planner, I too have clear financial goals and
understand the value of a budget.
Seeing as ‘spending less on a monthly basis’ was another one of my goals
in my recent action plan, I feel encouraged that I will be successful after
reading this. Although I have always known that I am financially responsible,
it was comforting to see that of the 5 financial personalities described, I
related most to “the planner”.
